Transition into Infant School

Transition to Infant School

Children in nursery transfer to either The Brigg or The Green Infants Schools. Nursery works together with both schools sharing projects, bidding for funds and sharing ideas and good practice. Children start school in either the September or January in the school year in which they will be 5.

Staff from both schools visit the children at nursery to meet the children. Nursery staff accompany our children to school on at least one of each of the 3 visits.

Our children visit their chosen infant school for two afternoons and one full day  in their last term of nursery. Both infant schools have induction meetings for parents.

Parents apply to the local authority for a place at infant school in the December before their child is due to start. This is normally done on line. Nursery notifies and reminds parents when applications need to be completed.

Family of schools

All the schools in South Normanton and Pinxton meet regularly and work together as a family of schools. We are very fortunate to have such a strong group and we try and create as much commonality between all our schools as possible. This really helps children as they progress through the school system in South Normanton and Pinxton and finally attend Frederick Gents.
