A word from our new Headteacher - November 2026

I’m Sally, and I’m excited to be joining South Normanton Nursery School as your new Headteacher in January.
When I first visited, there was a warmth and a sense of joy that reminded me of the “Laughter and Learning” we treasure at Norbury, where I currently teach Reception and Year 1 alongside being Headteacher. Spending time with your lovely children and seeing their curiosity as they played and explored made me excited to become part of your nursery community.
I’ve spent 25 years teaching in the early years, including six as a Headteacher, and still love the surprises, discoveries and laughter that each day brings. Play and outdoor adventures are close to my heart, along with making sure every child feels safe, happy and understood.
I’m also mum to two older girls—one at university and one who has just started her A-levels. Those first days in education are a while ago now, but I remember how much it mattered to know they were happy, cared for and in good hands. I want you to feel that same reassurance, and I look forward to getting to know you and your children.
I’ll be visiting before Christmas, so please do come and say hello. I’m looking forward to working alongside the team to build on Peter’s hard work and all that makes South Normanton such a special place.
Warm wishes,
Sally

Clean Air Day - Monday 16th June
We would like to invite parents to join us on Monday 16th June, to take part in our Clean Air Superheroes Activities. Parents can join us at 9am or 1pm, to take part with Rob and the children in designing and making our own superhero items and talk about how we can support our environment through the choices we make in how we travel.
On this day, your child can wear something related to superheroes. This could be as simple as a hair ribbon in the colour of the Hulk, superhero hat, socks or t-shirt. Please make sure that your child can easily access the toilet in the clothes you send them in.
In the South Normanton area alone, we exceed 3 World Health Organisation limits for air quality. We would like you to take part in being a Clean Air Superhero. You could go polluting-vehicle free for Clean Air Day by leaving the car at home or avoiding non-essential, polluting deliveries. Together let’s protect our children’s health from air pollution. www.cleanairday.org.uk
