Our school day

At South Normanton Nursery School we understand the importance of being ready to learn. Play and learning go hand in hand, and we ensure that children are well-equipped to learn by implementing good routines that suit the cohort of children that year.

Morning session

 

8.30am	Children come into free-flow play inside and have access to the outdoor area.
8.30am - 11.10am	Children are supported in their play by staff. Taking their learning to them in our environment, either inside or outside.
9.00am - 11.00am	We provide small group learning for children.
9.30am - 10.30am	Children can access a snack in our Caring Corner.
11.10am	Group time - story time, singing or Tales Toolkit.
11.30am	End of session.

 

Afternoon session

 

12.30pm	Children come into free-flow play inside and have access to the outdoor area.
1.00pm - 3.00pm	We provide small group learning for children.
12.30pm - 3.10pm	Children are supported in their play by staff. Taking their learning to them in our environment, either inside or outside.
1.30pm - 2.30pm	Children can access a snack in our Caring Corner.
3.10pm	Group time - story time, singing or Tales Toolkit.
3.30pm	End of session.

 

A lunch time session is available from 11.30am until 12.30pm.

Children who stay all day have a short activity before lunch and then free play outside.

Children also take part in Forest Schools and Long Wavy Grass on a Friday.
