Our school day
At South Normanton Nursery School we understand the importance of being ready to learn. Play and learning go hand in hand, and we ensure that children are well-equipped to learn by implementing good routines that suit the cohort of children that year.
Morning session
8.30am | Children come into free-flow play inside and have access to the outdoor area. |
8.30am - 11.10am | Children are supported in their play by staff. Taking their learning to them in our environment, either inside or outside. |
9.00am - 11.00am | We provide small group learning for children. |
9.30am - 10.30am | Children can access a snack in our Caring Corner. |
11.10am | Group time - story time, singing or Tales Toolkit. |
11.30am | End of session. |
Afternoon session
12.30pm | Children come into free-flow play inside and have access to the outdoor area. |
1.00pm - 3.00pm | We provide small group learning for children. |
12.30pm - 3.10pm | Children are supported in their play by staff. Taking their learning to them in our environment, either inside or outside. |
1.30pm - 2.30pm | Children can access a snack in our Caring Corner. |
3.10pm | Group time - story time, singing or Tales Toolkit. |
3.30pm | End of session. |
A lunch time session is available from 11.30am until 12.30pm.
Children who stay all day have a short activity before lunch and then free play outside.
Children also take part in Forest Schools and Long Wavy Grass on a Friday.
