Support for Families

Early Help

At South Normanton Nursery School, we want to help and support all of our families as well as our children. That's why we provide Early Help and support to those family who need it.

What is Early Help?

Early Help is a way of getting extra support when you or your family needs it; getting help as soon as the difficulties start rather than waiting until things get worse.

It is for children and young people of any age. Help can come from all kinds of services and organisations who work together to support families. If things are not right at home then come and talk to us. We want to make sure that you get the appropriate support to your needs.

How do we support Early Help?

We provide Early Help through the activities we do in nursery; working alongside Health Visitors and a range of agencies; through the Derbyshire Early Help 0 -5 Advisors and through a Family Support Worker from Positive 4 Young People.

Positive 4 Young People provide help for families who need support. Karen Tait is our Family Support Worker from P4YP and she supports children and families, helping them with such issues as:

  • Self-Esteem
  • Attendance
  • Behaviour issues and problems at home
  • Finance
  • Bereavement, separation or loss

If you would like more information about how we can support you, then please contact Peter.

If you are concerned about the safety of a child or you require urgent help or advice, then phone Call Derbyshire on 01629 533190

Freedom @ South Normanton

Freedom Community Project is a Christian charity that was set up in 2008 to support people who are struggling with poverty in Bolsover. Since then the project has grown to cover the North East Midlands and Yorkshire with 8 supportcentres. The organisation has a small staff team who enable our large team of volunteers to deliver support across the area.

They seek to achieve this by providing support in a number of areas such as job search advice, skills training, food banks, clothing, household provision, activities to build self-esteem, financial support and money management and counseling. They always seek to work in partnership with other groups and agencies in order to give the best support to each community.
