A Special Invite to The South Normanton COOP Re-launch:24/02/17

What a fun day today has been.

The children had a very special invite to be guests at the re-launch of the coop in South Normanton Village after its wonderful refurbishment.

The children went to the local store with their parents/ carers and whilst they were there they enjoyed fun activities including a bouncy castle and face painting. There were lots of different food to try and free cookies too! We had some special photos taken and one of our children was asked to cut the ribbon to officially open the newly refurbished store…how exciting!

The children enjoyed some shopping with their parents too, skillfully guiding their baskets around the beautiful new store and choosing their groceries. Many of the parents also became coop members whilst they were there.

This was a fantastic opportunity to take part in a community event and helps our children to learn more about their local community in the context of our wider world. This is so important and forms a key part of our ‘Understanding the World’ curriculum, supporting the children’s concept of identity and understanding about where they live.

A great big thank you to Ricky and his team and to Layton’s Mum, for inviting us to this special event and for all their hard work.
