Harvest Activity Day: 14/10/2013

In spite of the rain our Harvest Activity Day was great success!

With the rain beating at the door both children and parents, carers and Grandparents enjoyed joining in with our Harvest activities, in nursery and in the nursery garden.

We learnt about the autumn harvest and about growing food to feed ourselves and others. We also talked about the  importance of giving and sharing food with others who do not have as much as we do.

Our children and families enjoyed making popping corn pictures, leafy faces, hand print hedgehogs, autumn crowns, family trees and  finger mice. We alsso counted and weighed potatoes and conkers and made some lovely vegetable wraps at the snack table.

We had lots of generous donations of food for the South Normanton Food bank which will help families in crisis. Reverend Potter from the local church came in to speak to thechildren and their families and was very grateful for all the support. To many thanks to everyone who donated and helped with this great cause.

At the end of the session we all sang our Harvest Song 'The Harvest Table' to remind us about the importance of giving to others.

Follow the audio link below to hear out lovely singing.

Many thanks to all who supported us at nursery in making this day of harvesty playing and learning at nursery lots and lots of fun and thanks also for your donations to the Food Bank to help those in need.
