Great British Spring Clean: 06-10/03/17

We had a very busy week taking part in the ‘Great British Spring Clean.’

We talked about how all around the country children and adults were ‘Keeping Britain Tidy’ by safely collecting litter in their own community to make it look even nicer.

In nursery we did lots of learning and talking about why it was really important to make sure that we didn’t drop litter, but instead put it in the bin. We talked about the different types of rubbish and how some of it could be re-cycled at nursery and at home and we even looked at all of the different bins that we have a nursery and what they are used for…

The rubbish bin, the re-cycling bin, the compost bin, the nose blowing bin and the hand towel bin in the toilet!...what a lot of bins. The children were fantastic at discussing what all the bins were for and showing us where they were in nursery, which is part of our new nursery 5 Finger Rights Respecting Rules, to make sure our rubbish is going in the right place.

As part of our special Thursday activities the children did a litter pick around the nursery grounds with Debbie. They kept very safe by using special grabbers and made our nursery grounds look really clean and tidy.

We then asked the children via our Tapestry link to look at home and in the community for lots of different bins and they did some brilliant looking and sent us lots of pictures of their different bins at home and around South Normanton…well done everyone!
