Bidiversity Day: 22/05/19

As an ECO and Rights Respecting School, we know the importance of respecting our world and all the plants and animals in it.

All this week we have been looking at all the different plants and animals in our nursery garden as we began to learn about biodiversity. We discussed this big word that means all the different plants and animals that live in a place and began to learn about how this biodiversity is very important to keep our planet health. Wow we did some fantastic looking in the nursery garden using our magnifying glasses and viewers. We looked in all the nooks and crannies…under rocks and stones to discover all the things that lived there and our nursery children took lotd of pictures of all the things that we saw. We found so many different flowers, plants and trees as well as birds, beetles, woodlice, spiders, ants and centipedes and even a funny little bug that lived in some sticky white stuff called cuckoo spit! It’s amazing what you can find when you look closely. The children all remembered to use their kind hands and put all the minibeasts that they found back in their own habitat, which is very important.  Have a look at the pictures that we took. We have great biodiversity...even in our nursery garden.
