'Guess How Much I Love You' Themed Activity Day: 04/03/16

We had a fantastic time at our latest themed Activity Day.

We based the days events of the story of ‘Guess How Much I Love You’ as we had been thinking in nursery about our families,  the people who we love and the people who look after us. This was also  linked in with Mother’s Day which some of our families celebrate.

In spite of the cold weather there was fun and learning indoors and out at nursery. We welcomed many parents and carers, grandparents, friends and governors to join in the learning and fun, as well as some of our new children who will be starting after Easter and their families.

We talked about who we loved and why, especially our families and how they were similar or different to each other but are all special. We played and learned through lots of different activities based on the lovely story of Guess How Much I Love You’…

We made hares ears, just like the hares in the story, sprinkle cut carrots which really helped our fine motor skills. We made sponge printing moons (I Love you to the moon and back) to give to the people who we love and made Van Gogh style starry night pictures with textures paint.  We used lots of different sized hares to help us to learn about size ordering and developed our construction skills by building a house for the hare in the story. Outside, even though the weather was cold, we did a number hunt around the nursery garden to help us to learn about recognising numbers.

It was fantastic that the day was so well supported and was a lovely opportunity for us and our governors to talk to our families.

We were also very surprised when we got a special visitor who came to see us at nursery. Many thanks to the Easter Bunny, who took time out of his busy schedule to come and see the children at South Normanton Nursery School and many thanks to everyone who supported in making this day a fun and successful playing and  learning experience.
