Charity Support. Taking part in The World's Biggest Coffee Morning for MacMillan Cancer Research: 28/09/18

On Friday 28th  September we supported the national charity of MacMillan Cancer Support by taking part in 'The World's Biggest Coffee Morning'

Our children, staff and families were extremely generous with their donations of lovely cakes for the sale...there was a really interesting selection with something for everyone.

We sold cakes at the end of morning session and again in the afternoon along with our friends from Glebe and everyone was eager to buy some of the fantastic cakes that had been donated.

At nursery the children were very excited about all the different cakes that they had brought in and of course about buying and eating them. We talked to them about how the money that we raised from selling the coffee and cakes would go to support people who were poorly and how this was our way of helping.

As well as a fun experience for our children this was a fantastic community event bringing our families, other schools and community workers in the area together. Days such as this also help our children to learn about and discuss different types of people and situations, their right to health care (UNCRC Article 24) and also to learn about the importance of generosity and charity work to help others in need which is a very important part of our PSED and British Values curriculum.

Many thanks to all who donated and bought cake in support of Macmillan Cancer Support. In total South Normanton Nursery School raised a fantastic £180.00 to donate to this fantastic charity.
