Learning About St Andrews Day: 30/11/16

On Friday 30th November we learnt about St Andrew's Day at nursery.

St Andrew's Day celebrates St Andrew who is the patron saint of Scotland and this is particularly important to us, as Moira our School Business Manager is from Scotland.

During the day we looked at some information and pictures about St Andrew's Day and discussed why it is celebrated. We also did some activities in nursery to help us with our learning. We painted thistles, made our very own tartan and had lots of blue and white activities to remind us about the Scottish flag.

Learning days such as these are an important part of our personal, social emotional development curriculum and our teaching on British Values as they help our children to understand the culture and celebrations of others in comparison to our own.
